Home Office, Private Client, Berlin
Designed for a private client in Berlin, this home office was created as a calm retreat where work, reading, and quiet reflection could naturally coexist. Rather than treating the workspace as a purely functional room, the design explores how architecture can encourage moments of pause throughout the day. A custom built in window seat transforms the perimeter into a comfortable reading nook, allowing the room to shift effortlessly between focused productivity and restorative relaxation.

Natural timber defines the entire interior, wrapping the space in full height wall panelling, integrated shelving, and exposed ceiling beams that create warmth and architectural rhythm. Vertical slatted detailing frames the window and adds depth to the joinery, while the sculptural paper pendant introduces softness against the strong geometry of the room. A dark timber desk and olive upholstered chair provide subtle contrast, grounding the composition without disturbing its quiet atmosphere.
The palette remains intentionally restrained, combining warm oak, soft linen, muted olive, and natural stone tones that allow texture to become the roomβs defining feature. Carefully curated books, handcrafted ceramics, and indoor planting introduce personality without visual noise, while generous daylight changes the character of the room throughout the day. The result is a workspace that prioritises wellbeing as much as productivity, creating an environment that feels timeless, restorative, and quietly lived in.
