Dining Room, Private Client, Zurich, Switzerland
A private dining room renovation in Zurich, designed to create a refined gathering space that balances Swiss precision with the warmth and simplicity of Japandi living. The brief centred on transforming the dining area into a calm focal point of the home while maintaining a seamless connection to the adjoining kitchen. Every design decision was guided by a desire for timeless materials, thoughtful craftsmanship, and an atmosphere that encourages slow, meaningful moments around the table.

The interior is defined by a carefully layered palette of walnut, oak, woven cane, marble, and soft neutral finishes. A sculptural round marble dining table forms the heart of the space, complemented by handcrafted timber chairs with woven seats that introduce natural texture and understated elegance. Sliding oak slatted screens provide a flexible architectural division between the dining room and kitchen, allowing privacy when needed while preserving openness, daylight, and visual continuity throughout the home.
Every element has been selected to celebrate quiet craftsmanship and lasting quality. Bespoke cabinetry with woven cane fronts adds warmth and character, while sculptural lighting, curated decorative objects, and subtle contemporary artwork create depth without unnecessary ornamentation. The combination of natural materials, balanced proportions, and restrained detailing results in a dining room that feels sophisticated yet effortless, designed for both everyday living and intimate gatherings within a timeless contemporary home.
