First of all, thank you so much for reading and supporting this blog. Making A Green Life by Lily began as a hobby during the lockdown in 2020 and ever since it has changed my life and it allows me to connect with people who have the same passions. And I am truly grateful for that.
As you may or may not be aware, there are many ways in which a blogger can “monetise” their blog. I do this in a few ways that I’d like to walk you through below so you won’t be caught off guard by the labels or terms used on certain posts. I want you to know that I do not accept free items, money, or any other forms of compensation in exchange for positive or fake reviews. All items that I write about will be my honest opinion, the good, bad, or I won’t write about it at all. I also will pass on any opportunities that don’t align with my personal values or my green lifestyle.
Advertisements
I run ads through SHE Media Partner Network. These are impression and click-based ads, so visiting my website will provide me with an “impression” commission, and if you click one I may receive an additional commission from the advertiser.
Sponsored Posts
From time to time, I will work with brands and businesses to create sponsored content, which means that I was paid to write about a particular product or experience. Often this means a brand will contact me directly, send a product they would like me to try or ask me to purchase it for the post and provide me with a few talking points about their product and company. Additionally, I will share my honest personal experience with the product(s) or service(s). On social media, you will see sponsored content denoted by the #ad hashtag or labelled as “paid partnership” or simply “AD”.
Affiliate Links
On posts that contain products like furniture, interiors, clothing, beauty, and other items available for purchase online, you may notice links and a disclosure statement. Clicking on an affiliate link from my blog may place a tracking cookie in your browser to provide me with a small commission at no cost to you. These cookies are used so that I get credit for the sale since you came from my blog.
I use a variety of different affiliate link tools to earn a commission. I use a couple of affiliate link tools – I use Awin, ShareASale, Impact, SOVRN Commerce which provide commissions, typically between 1-10%, if you click my link and then make a purchase, sometimes even as long as 30 days after. This only occurs if you haven’t clicked someone else’s affiliate link in the meantime. No harm no foul, feel free to support whoever you feel comfortable with if anyone!
Rakuten Marketing
I partner with Rakuten Marketing, who may collect personal information when you interact with my blog. The collection and use of this information are subject to their privacy policy. You can find out more or opt out here.
Product Samples
Sometimes companies send me a sample of a product or products for consideration for use in a future editorial or post on my blog, or to share on social media. Sometimes this is a piece of furniture, clothing, a beauty product, or something else. Either way, I incorporate these into a post I would already write and share my honest opinions about the item(s).
Press Discounts
Press discounts are sometimes provided in lieu of a product. A company may provide me with a discount code to use towards a purchase of a product or service in exchange for a written review of my experience.
Gifted Items
Gifted items are defined as items that were sent as a gift, either from a brand, friend, or family member, not in exchange for a post or other advertisement on my blog or social media. These items, like gifts you receive from anyone, come with no strings and I may incorporate them in future posts. I usually will mark these c/o if they come from a business or “gift” if it was from a friend or family member or received in a gift bag and I’m unsure of the source.
I Pay For This/I Bought This
This designation indicates that I purchased items in the post myself and the products were not provided by the brand/company.
