Essential Sustainable Candles For My Green Journey
As a matter of fact, I love scented candles so much that I would go as far as to say they are my favourite must-have indulgence. I mean… who doesn’t? Candles sure make a room come alive. I love the way they make a home smell, and the ambience benefits can’t be beaten. Definitely scented candles are one of the things I cannot live without. Especially now I am in my healing process from the big breakup. So… I burn scented candles when I meditate in the morning and when I read a book in the evening before going to bed. I really love taking these time to give extra care of myself and candles are a huge help on the journey.
Did you know burning a candle has several positive benefits for you? For instance, lifting up your mood, helping your stress and anxiety, improving your productivity and creativity, and also it improves your sleeping quality.
As you know I’m obsessed with reducing my waste and living a more sustainable life. After moving to the Netherlands, I was looking for new sustainable vegan candles that would fit my green lifestyle and my new little house. That’s why I was beyond happy when I found Brandt kaarsen. Their candles are plant-based soy candles therefore it is 100% healthy to burn them in my home.
Anyway, I got to try some of the candles from Brandt kaarsen and you know I love sharing things with you guys so here is my thoughts on plant-based vegan candles from Brandt kaarsen:
Surf Swell
It’s my favourite one from the collection. Like their description says, as soon as I lit up this Surf Swell scented candle it makes me think of the beach. I like to use this one in the morning when I meditate but also when I need a little stress relief and a tiny escape from the daily grind, get thee here and light this candle up. It smells like sitting at the beach. The ocean breeze smells fresh and moving. This candle has a mixed blend of Lemongrass, Orchid, cypress, Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood. So many great scents to help keep you take your mind off of whatever is stressing you out. Plus, it’s small enough to fit into any corner or space in your home!
Sauvage
Imagine taking a deep breath at the foot of wood. Wild herbs, aromatic plants and resins of conifers mingle with the sweet smell of wild lavender. It’s like when I inhale deeply through my nostrils and my entire body is filled with an unbridled sense of freedom and exhilaration at being given the opportunity to dig into nature’s treasure trove. The warm heart notes in Sauvage are complemented by light touches of ambergris contributing to its masculine tone that is smooth with a dry and bitter-sweet undertone. My favourite moment of using this scented candle is when I read a book before going to bed.
Sandalwood & Patchouli
This scent is the epitome of comfort.
It’s a warm, woodsy fragrance. To be completely honest, at first, I thought this isn’t my type of smell but I use it more and more and it makes me like more and more. The subtle sandalwood and patchouli notes are balanced by clove and spice, so it’s just spicy enough to be interesting. It’s not overpowering— I can be sensitive to strong scents, but this one will be right up my alley.
Packaging
When the candles arrived at my home, I asked them to give me information about their packaging as I want to give you all the correct information. The cardboard box they used carries the RESY stamp, which means it is recycled. Inside that recycled box, you can see that the candles are protected with soluble potato starch-flakes and loose filling cushioning that are also recycled.
Final Thoughts on Dutch Vegan Scented Candles I am In Love With
I am especially excited to work with Brandt kaarsen to share these beautiful sustainable vegan candles that will be the perfect addition to your new green collections. Because it makes my conscious green life better. What I really love about Brandt Kaarsen is that
